It is responsible for the development of relations with other states and co-operation with multi-national and international organisations, in particular in the area of foreign and security policy, bilateral relations, economic co-operation, culture, science, technology, and education.

Bratislava, 26 March 2026 – The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic wants to continue improving crisis management processes in terms of ​​assistance to Slovak citizens who find themselves in an acute situation abroad. This was confirmed by the head of Slovak diplomacy, Juraj Blanár, who today visited the modernised International Operational Crisis Centre of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic in its new premises.

Bratislava, 25 March 2026 – After more than seven years of negotiations, the European Union-Australia Free Trade Agreement was signed on Tuesday, 24 March 20226, by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanár, described this step as a major milestone in strengthening the strategic partnership between the EU and the Indo-Pacific region as well as confirmation of the importance of open and rules-based international trade.

Bratislava, 22 March 2026 – Access to safe drinking water is one of the basic conditions for a dignified life, health protection and stability of societies. This is why the Slovak Republic, through development cooperation, supports projects that improve the availability of drinking water and hygiene conditions in regions stricken by conflicts, poverty or climate change. The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanár, noted this on the occasion of today’s World Water Day.

Bratislava, 20 March 2026 – The Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic have taken note of the decision of the Belgian Court of Appeal in Mons to reject the family’s appeal in the tragic death of Slovak citizen Jozef Chovanec, who died on 27 February 2018, on the fourth day after a police intervention in a cell at Charleroi Airport.
